VIBRATION RISK
MANAGMENT
Abbey’s Vibration Risk Management Programme takes the time to understand your site needs, manufacturing processes and tooling requirements.
We take the time to thoroughly assess your tooling and consumables, to confirm that they are in fact best matched to your production needs. Our detailed vibration testing processes are fully aligned with HSE regulations and we also provide operator awareness around safety in use and tool maintenance to ensure you are maximising capacity of your tooling investments.
Vibration Risk Management Programmes are conducted in response to the supervision of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome. (HAVS) Caused by an over exposure to vibration when using equipment such as handheld power tools, symptoms can include bouts of Vibration White Finger, muscle fatigue which can potentially result in disability and in some cases, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE PROGRAMME
At Abbey, we work with a multitude of manufacturers to provide expert advice and services around vibration management in line with HSE standards.
An effective programme should ensure the health and safety of employees by thorough assessment and implementation of measures to minimise and where possible, eliminate vibration risk, which is why we also provide information and training for employees on vibration risks and appropriate control measures, as part of our Toolbox Talks Service.
Abbey’s Service Team Engineers are trained to conduct on-site assessments using comprehensive testing equipment. We’ve also developed data collection methods which are meticulous and encompass details such as estimated trigger times, photos of the equipment and a ready reckoner which can be used in conjunction with estimated trigger times to provide an overall risk factor for the tools in question.
Contact the service team today to arrange a Vibration Risk Management consultation with one of our tooling experts and ensure your tooling is maximising your manufacturing productivity.
VIBRATION MANAGEMENT PROCEDURE
HEALTH CHECK ASSESSMENT
Our specialist team will work with you to thoroughly assess existing tool suitability against manufacturing requirements. Our measures include the evaluation of operator safety, consumable assessment and tool in-application suitability in line with HSE guidelines.
ON-SITE VIBRATION TESTING
Once tools pass the health check examination, our specialist teams will proceed to test the vibration magnitude of individual tools including the exposure action values and exposure limit values, again this is all conducted in line with HSE guidelines.
RISK ASSESSMENT AND RECOMMENDATIONS
We then take the learnings to assess and implement a suitable plan of action for tooling testing and maintenance whilst also evaluating daily tool usage and frequency of use against actual tool requirements. These findings are then presented back to you with recommendations of future steps to be taken for effective and HSE compliant tooling practices.
